Cheryl Evans is currently in the Pittsburgh Opera Center at Duquesne University.  Since the beginning of this season (September 1998 - March 1999), Cheryl has performed the role of Vanessa, (Samuel Barber) with orchestra, in both Pittsburgh and Bethany, West Virginia.

During her apprenticeship at the Pittsburgh Opera she has had the opportunity to work with and learn from several outstanding artists in the opera field, including:

Tito Capobianco
Currently she is preparing the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor, and will appear as Lucia in February, 1999.  For ticket information, please call the Pittsburgh Opera at (412) 281-0912.

Following the run of Lucia, she will appear as Tatyana, in Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin, which will be sung in Russian.

Recently, Cheryl Evans performed the role of Rosalinda in a special New Year's Eve presentation of Act 2 of Strauss' operetta, Die Fledermaus.  Singer from the Pittsburgh Opera Center performed with members of the Pittsburgh Ballet theatre in the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, which was filled to capacity for both performances that night.

Cheryl Evans will return to Saint Louis to participate in the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis Ensemble program. As an Ensemble Artist in Saint Louis, she will cover the role of the Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, as well as being in the Ensembles for Othello and The Pearlfishers. Cheryl Evans made her professional debut as the Countess Almaviva, with the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh in 1997.

Last year, Cheryl covered the role of Amore in the United States premiere of Arianna, by Alexander Goehr.  She also participated in master classes given by director Colin Graham and  Maestro Stephen Lord.
