The first time Boyzone came was from the 30 Jan to 3 Feb 1997.
Five days are pretty long, right? I went to their activities with my sis,
Wing. She loves Ronan crazily and she's glad that she has the same birthday
as Ronan!.
Wing and I just knew when was their coming and we only had their
autograph session coupon and a very "mini"-concert coupon. They came here
to promote their second album, A Different Beat. They'd gone to many radio
stations to have many different interviews but the questions were actually
all the same. They had two autograph sessions, a mini-concert, an Ice-sculpture
they had to
attended, made many interviews with loads of H.K. magazines and attended
a music awards show in Hong Kong Coliseum.
The first day (30-1-97), I think they had a rehearsal of that
Music Awards in the morning. At night they attended the Music-Awards and
got an award, They sang Words before they received the award.
The second day (31-1-97), it wasn't any special. I think they
just made all of the interviews to all the magazines, took photos and went
to the radio station to have many interviews with the DJs and went to Channel
[V] for an interview with one of the program, By Demand.
The third day (1-2-97), it was one of the important day 'cos
that day I saw them during the mini-concert. The mini-concert was held
by one of the Hong Kong music channel, YMC and some organizations. It was
at 4 pm (Saturday) and was limited only to about 200 boyzone' fans. It
was
held in one of the bar in Tsim Sha Tsiu which is a very smelly and
crowded place. "It's show time!" They came out, sat on the chairs
and only sang four songs. The songs were, "Words", "Love Me For A
Reason", "Isn't It A Wonder" and "A Different Beat". The five gorgeous
boy wore a golden shirt and a black trousers. That's very cool for me and
Wing. At that moment, we didn't know which hotel they were staying until
we asked a very nice foreign lady reporter. She told us they were staying
in Stanford Harbour View Hotel which in East of Tsim Sha Tsiu . Then we
rushed there at once. When we reached there at about 19:40, many fans were
but not much. Wing and I met two boyzone fan, Jessica and Flora We are
good friends now. We both started chatting and found out that they went
to the mini concert too! I didn't see them there as it was really crowded.
We waited for Boyzone from 7:40 till 12:30. Unfortunately, we didn't manage
to see/meet them but we made two nice friends and they told me that boyzone
would have a Ice-sculpture thingy the following day in Shatin. Wing and
I were disappointed 'cos we couldn't go to that Ice-sculpture as the tickets
had sold out. That night, we didn't get to sleep as Wing and
I got to stay up to finish up a hand made gift that we were planning
to give Boyzone the next day. We were absolutely going crazy and you can't
imagine how tired we were.
The forth day(2-2-97), it was a great day too as we went to
one of their autograph session in Tsim Sha Tsiu in the morning. I went
there with Wing and both of us were nervous. When it was our turn,
I was so nervous getting to meet Steve face to face that I almost forgot
about the other boys. I saw Ronan though, as he was sitting at the end
of the row and he returned me my poster. Ahh!I saw Mikey too 'cos I handed
him the handmade gift. As far as I know, they went to anothrer autograph
session in Shatin and attended an Ice-sculpture thingy. I didn't
get to go as the tickets/coupon were all sold out.
The last day (3-2-97), Wing and I went to the airport
in the morning 'cos we read their schedule from a magazine and know that
they will depart at noon to Manila. When we were reached the airport, we
enquired about their flight and got to know that they were gonna take British
Airway. The departure time was 12:15.
Fews hours later, we saw boyzone. Although it was Monday, but
many fans were there and we couldn't get close to them. Furthermore, they
rusehed inside and didn't come out...
That was my first experience with Boyzone.
