THREE GODS OR ONE ?

" What is this Trinity business ? Father , Son and Holy Spirit ? "
" Are they all Gods ? Are there three Gods ? "
" No !? What do you mean no ? How can 1+1+1 = 1 ? You think I cannotcount ah ? "
Three-in-one ? Cheh....shampoo or instant coffee ,ka ? I don't understandlah . " "So confusing one . "

Among the relgions of the world , the Christian faith is unique in making claim that God is one and yet there are three who are God . While the word "Trinity" is not found in sciptures , the Bible does conclusively reveals God to exist in such a nature . Three important and interrelated truths concerning this doctrine are found in the Bible . Firstly , the Oneness of God , that is , there is only one God . Secondly , the deity of three persons , which means there are three persons who are God . And finally , the unity of this triune God , meaning that God must be understood as Three-in-One .

In trying to understand this concept of God , Christians have used quite a few analogies . One is the water analogy . Water can be found to exist in three forms : solid as ice , liquid as water and gas as steam or vapour . Another analogy is that man can be a father to his son , a son to his parents and a husband to his wife . Honestly , while these analogies do help us to understand a little bit more about the Trinity , these are far from adequate .

It must be stressed here that God is simply too big for us to understand fully . It is not possible to define God , to confine Him to an equation formula . Our failure to comprehead the doctrine of the Trinity doew not mean that it is nonsencial or false . It only means that we are finite beings
with limitations .

An ancient wise man once said this : The teaching about the Trinity is so absurd from a human standpoint that no one would have invented it . This
means that if you and I were to cook up an idea of God , we would have used something more logical and less paradoxical . As such , this doctrine must be divinely revealed and not humanly constructed .

God as a Trinity is a mystery . It is unscrutable . Try to explain it and you might lose your mind . Try and deny it and you might lose your soul .
