MAN IN RED

What has 2 horns , a pointed tail ; carries a big pitch fork ; and is almost always dressed in red ? Hmmm.... it's not a farmer in cow costume , or a cow in farmer costume for that matter .

That's right , Mr S.A.Tan has a few aliases too , like Lucifer and syaitan .The above description is the typical cartoon-like concept a lot of us have . Most people , whether they believe in His existence or not really don't care . " If he is there , he's there lah . So what ? " Others think it's better to leave him alone . " No point stirring up the hornet's nest . I mean we don't want to offend him , do we ? " For others , he's kind of cute , adorable even . Yet for others , 'satan' is simply the reference to the idea of evil n this world , just a concept , a nonenity .While most of the people don't take satan seriously , there is a minority who do - they are people who get involved with the witchcraft , occultic practices , and even satanic worship , which is silly , since God is clearly the more awesome dude .

Really who satan is and whether he exists or not doesn't depend on what we think . Try as we may to rationalise , ignore or deny , he is still out there , alive and kicking . In fact he is quiet happy to keep a low profile , which allows him to go about his business unheeded and unhindered .

The Bible has quite a lot to say about this character . It reveals satan as a real , personal and powerful being who is active in this world . And he is not alone . He has a gang of fellow demons and evil spirits working together with him .

We can say that satan is the archenemy of God . While God works to reveal His love and offer His salvation to us, satan and his gang are trying to thwart what God is doing . Since he cannot hurt God directly because his power obviously doesn't match . But at least he can hurt what God loves - people . Everytime a soul gets lost , a life gets robbed , and wrong done onto one of us , it brings pain to God Which is why satan delights in using us as tools with which to strike his Enemy , who is our friend . he enjoys it when the tragedy he unfolds upon or lives get blamed on God , causing us to curse God instead of him . For an interesting perspective on the schemes of the evil one , try reading "The Screwtape Letters " by C S Lewis , which is one of the funniest yet insightful of books written in this century .

When we talk to God , arguements about His existence quite often come up . " Prove to me that God really exists ! " But seldom do people debate whether the devil is real or not ( maybe only Mulder and Scully ) . In fact ,
there are people who will quite readilly believe that there is a devil ( or even at times you must be tempted to believe that your mischievous friends are evil incarnate themselves ) , but adamantly refuse to belive in God , which is ridiculous .

Satan is not a joke ! he is real . If we continue to think that he is just a funny harmless character in the Mr Boffo comic strip , we may end up being the joke ourselves . Satan thinks he can get the last laugh . Don't let him .
