My Story of Salvation

I was born and raised in a Christian home. While growing up, I did not realize what an extreme privilege this was. My parents faithfully took my  brothers and sister and I to hear the Gospel being preached from the Bible every week. From attending Sunday School and Gospel Meetings, I knew most of the stories in the Bible, yet I could not say that I was on my way to Heaven.

From Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned..." I knew that when we are born into this world, we are sinners. I also knew that the only way that you can know of being on your way to Heaven is to accept Christ as your Saviour. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:3,4). This was the way that God provided a way that we may know of going to Heaven. John 3:36 tells us "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

Yet, I knew all this and I still did not have that time in my life when I accepted the Lord Jesus as my personal Saviour. It was not until a series of Gospel meetings in March 1990, that I seriously started to think about eternity. After coming home one night, I went to my bedroom. My mom gave me some tracts and we read some verses. On March 6, 1990 I came to just simply trust that I am a sinner and that Jesus died for me on the Cross. In I John 5:13, we read "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

It's as simple and easy as that. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9) There is nothing that we can do but believe. Jesus did everything on the Cross at Calvary.
