D. A. 11-8-1941

This poem should be named M.D.A., but it will always be "The One and Only D.A." to me. This is the only poem that has ever been written for me personally, to the best of my knowledge. I still have the original, handwritten on white, lined stationary tablet, but I didn't need to copy it, as there is no danger of ever forgetting it. I would have to say, "The post that inspired this reply, was the biggest mistake of my life." At 16, I thought I was so smart. I knew nothing of life or love. It was signed by 78 guys at Miramar Naval Air Station, all in basic training. [1959] It has no name, so I gave it the initials of the sender. The boy I love[d], my soul mate, the spirit I followed to this plane. .


I thought the world had blown apart, the day that I lost you.

The day you said your love was gone, and we were really through.

I thought there was no other one, for whom my heart could care.

Who had so much devotion, and such willingness to share.

But, now I find, a wider world, exists beneath the sun.

And while you are quite charming, you are not the only one.

And so, while I was shaken, by the bombshell that you hurled,

My heart has come to realize, there are others in the world.

So please take a flying leap at my a--.
