FROM THE EDITOR
First off, I would like to apologize for not producing a June
newsletter. We got a "bug" in our computer and it took several days to
get it back working the way that it should. Due to the fact that I couldn't
get out a newsletter to let people know about the pig-pigging and that
I couldn't reach Doug, myself and Henry Domme decided to cancel it
as we did not want to commit to the expense if we were not going to have
the funds available to cover them.
COAST GUARD DAY PICNIC
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Coast Guard Day Picnic will actually be held on August 4th this year.
That's a Monday and will start at 1400. Volunteers are needed from
1300 until 1800 to flip burgers, serve food and greet people with that
traditional CWO good humor and smiling faces.
Please call Matty Matteson at 484-7240 or Larry Leonardson to volunteer.
When Last We Met
Our last meeting was held on May 22th. It was at
MI CASITA and a great meal and a chance to socialize was enjoyed
by all that attended.
Our pig-picking that was planned during June unfortunately had to be canceled. We would like to thank Bill Maroulis for the offer of his home and yard for the occasion, we will be sure to ask again in the future. We would also like to thank Bill Ambrose for being prepared to cook the pig and for having prepared his wonderful sauce.

THE OLD COAST GUARD STATION was formerly called the Virginia Lifesaving Museum but they have now restored the Coast Guard Station name. Located at 24th & Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach, it commands a great view of the ocean. For some history of the Life Saving Service, the Lighthouse Service and the Coast Guard this is the place to go. A gift shop offers lighthouse miniatures, stationary, brass articles, books and so much more. Call 422-1587 for more information.
