Roll call of officers by Acting Secretary Adrian WARNER,
Pledge of Allegiance led by Bill STURGIS. Preamble
was read by Matte MATTESON. A moment of silence was held to honor all ship
mates who have passed over the Bar.
COMMITTEE REPORTS. Entertainment: Schedule of events for the insuing year read and becomes a part of The Minutes as an attachment. Binnucle: Blackie CRESSMAN
is resting at home.
Membership: President has drafted a letter, with attachments, tobe distributed to all active duty warrant officers in the area. Old Business: The proposed amendment
to the National By-Laws recommending that Distinguished members when present
at an annual national meeting will be entitled to
New Business: Motion brought to the floor by George COTE to change wording of the National Preamble as follows: i.e. after the associate ourselves together insert “and with articles of the “. Motion seconded by Don LUEDKE item discussed, and passed by the membership. This motion will be forwarded to National on 19 February, 1999. Matte MATTESON reported that two members have been nominated
for distinguished membership. They were CWO Harry HUGGINS and LT Charlotte
BRODA of the Yorktown Chapter. The Norfolk Chapter will support both members

Paul HAMAKER gave an update on his meeting in Washington upon
“The Coalition of Retired Military Veterans” Committee. The National is
to be contacted to determine if we have someone representing us at these
meetings.
Matte MATTESON gave a brief report on his attendance at the National Meeting in Washington. George COTE reported his concern on the lack of recognition given members by the National after achieving fifty (50) years of membership. George showed us certificates presented to him by other organizations.
