Unfortunately, I have to keep creating a new memorial page each year, because police officer killings are still very common. In 1999, 129 officers were killed in the United States alone. The good news is the numbers are down from previous years. If you would like to see last year's memorial, please go here http://www.oocities.org/EnchantedForest/4562/1999.html.
---Stop the senseless killing of police officers---

Police Officer's Prayer
O'Almighty God, whose great
power and enternal wisdom embrace the
universe, watch over all Police Officers.
Protect them from harm in the
performance of their duty to stop
crime and violence.
We pray for you to help them keep
our streets and homes safe day and
night. Grant them your unending
strength and courage.
Dear God, protect these brave men
and women and unite them safely with
their families after duty ends.
Amen
And now, a song I wrote:
I start out my shift,
like any other night.
Sometimes you get that feeling,
That something isn't going right.
But you put on your gear,
and head out the door.
Getting ready to face another night.
To protect and serve,
Words that I live by.
To protect and serve
Words that I promised to uphold
And even now that I'm gone
people will remember me,
cause I protected and served.
A shot rang out in the night,
and I was the one to take the fall.
Now I look down on my family
This is the funeral and their eyes are filled with tears
I wish I could tell them that they were the last thought in my mind.
But everything's just getting dark now,
and I think it's time for me to move on...
I can't believe I had to die
just to protect and serve.
To protect and to serve,
Words that I live by.
To protect and to serve,
Words that I promised to uphold
And even now that I'm gone
People will remember me,
cause I protected and served.
