I love everything that Stephen Donaldson writes. His main characters are usually what I'd call an "anti-hero." They seem to become "heros" inspite of themselves and usually have to overcome major character flaws, real or only imagined. Thomas Covenant series was my first experience with Donaldson's writing and I absolutely fell in love. So I have now read the Gap series as well. I truly recommend it to all readers who appreciate good character development and a gripping story.

Isaac Asimov doesn't need any introductions. I read all the Foundation series and all the Robot series, as well as various other books by this fabulous man. I'll try to find more of the above mentioned for those of you who haven't yet found your way to these wonderful tales.

Arthur C. Clark is probably most famous for his Odyssey books and, of course, the movie 2001, a Space Odyssey. What some of you may not know, is that he also wrote 2010, 2061, and now 3001. His Rama series are also a complex vision of, what I call, a Higher Power in the Universe and a look at our Universe and our part in it. Its very inspiring. But you have to start with the first book and read them all in sequence to get th full meaning. Very enjoyable. He also wrote many other interesting books, always basing the technology on what is possible today, and may actually be accomplished in the near future. He tackles such subjects as human cloning (Imperial Earth) as well as bringing up the Titanic. He's always been a big fan of the Titanic.

This next section is dedicated to a fantasy writer Raymond E. Feist. I read his Magician series a while ago and found it very entertaining. Good plot and character development with good action and mystery incorporated into it. I think you'll enjoy it. He's a San Diegon on top of it and so I thought I'd support one of our locals.
