I know that a lot of you sometimes feel down because of the pressures society puts on women in general and BBW in particular. So, what do I do when I am feeling down? I try to make myself feel better by doing some of the following:
I pamper myself - I take bubble baths, go shopping, call friends I haven't seen in a while, get a manicure, read a funny book, and just do things that I enjoy doing. I have a lot of hobbies and interests and sometimes I just indulge myself in new craft supplies or try something new. Start a new hobby! If you need any ideas or suggestions, email me!
I consider myself a very spiritual person. Often when I feel bad about myself I do a ritual, talk to the gods, meditate, or just burn a candle or incense. You could pray, go to a religious service, or do whatever spiritual pursuit makes you feel better.
Go out and make new friends - don't be too shy to go out there and meet new people. Even though there ARE some people out there that will judge us because of our weight, there are people out there who won't! You never know until you try. Don't know how to go about meeting new people? Volunteer, start a book reading club, go to conventions and talk to participants, get out there and don't be afraid to be seen!
I like to be wild and I would love to get my eyebrow pierced but with my job, I can't get away with this. So what do I do when I want to show off a bit but can't? Since I have a very conservative career and can't even wear funky clothing ( I wear suits most of the time) I wear really bold bright nail polish! I have a nail polish fetish! I have about 35 colors right now but I always want more. I have bright and strange colors, glitter polishes, metallics, and even scented polish. My favorites right now are a glittery rose scented one and a purple glitter! Sometimes I even wear colors that clash with my outfit! It's the only way I can feel daring at my job!
I make sure that when I go out and go to work I am dressed well. Sometimes it can be depressing shopping for clothes because of the way they fit. If it's something basic I'm looking for and I find an item that fits I may buy an extra one or two items of the same style but in different colors. That way I'm assured of having a wardrobe of the basics that fit well!
Sometimes when I am down I check out other web pages by BBWs and admirers. It's amazing how beautiful, funny and creative you other BBWs are out there! It can inspire me and sometimes really helps put the correct perspective on a situation.
Last, but not least, when I am feeling bad about my weight I tell myself that I AM a DESIRABLE, CARING, INTELLIGENT AND BEAUTIFUL PERSON who just happens to be a BBW! YOU ARE TOO!!!!!! Positive thought CAN help and this technique does work.
If you have any other suggestions, write me or post them in the guestbook - your comments are always welcome! I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE LOVED!
