A Day in the Sun

We hadn't intended,
on that bright sunny day,
to come together
that particular way.
We spread a blanket
on the soft new grass,
laid out our hearts,
and bared our souls.

We hadn't intended,
but as the sun beat down
it seemed to shine
on us alone.
Our eyes met,
our love was clear,
our bodies pressed
oh so near
We laid out our hearts,
and bared our souls.

Every touch was heaven
on that warm spring day.
There were two suns -
one above, one below.
Our love shone as strong,
its heat was as warm.
As lips met
and hands reached,
we laid out our hearts
and bared our souls.

We hadn't intended,
but under that sun
we came together,
we truly became one.
Cradled in nature
and the soft spring air,
we made love
like never before.
We laid out our hearts
and bared our souls.

Afterwards,
breathless and stunned,
the emotions overwhelming,
the love bittersweet,
we basked in the sun,
in the moment,
and in our love.
Holding each other,
we laid out our hearts
and bared our souls.

Our time in the sun,
stolen moments,
but so much more.
Over too soon yet
we'll never forget
the wonderful day
our beings melded
with the heat of our love
and we laid out our hearts
and bared our souls.
