        Eating Disorders

        This is a very hard set of pages for me to make. I am battling with anorexia and bulemia every day of my life. No, I don't have the diseases (and they ARE diseases) but my 14 year daughter does. We struggle for every ounce and rejoice at every pound. It is a hard thing for anyone to go through, sitting and watching your daughter slowly killing herself and not even know she is doing it. It is a hard disease to understand. It's jut plain hard! On her, on us, and on her team of doctors. But we will get through this....one tiny ounce at a time!
        I call this page Shattered Images because I know the beautiful bright child that we see is not the same one as my daughter sees. To her, what she sees are simply...

        The Basics
        According to The American Anorexia/Bulimia Association, Inc., "Eating Disorders--Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder--are psychiatric illnesses that afflict over two million American men and women, usually between the ages of 15 and 35. This figure may not seem terribly high, until we realize that thousands of these people will die from the physical problems caused by these conditions.". For me these figures are staggering because they have reached out and included my daughter. On The basic Pages you will find links to learn about the disease itself.         Organizations and Foundations
        On this page you will find places who have made it their job to fight these deadly diseases. Use their information as it is free for the taking, but please also consider contributing to them. One day it may be your daughter's life at stake....or even you.

        Survivor's Pages
        These pages are by people who either have recovered or are in recovery of eating disorders. We have so much to learn from them. Each and every one of them is a survivor! One day my own daughter will be here I am certain. One ounce at a time!
