Faith
I walked to the Sun-
I begged for His light.
But the fire was cold-
And the Sun was not bright.
I looked to the Sun-
To cleanse me with fire.
But the Sun drew away-
And scorned my desire.
I walked to the Sun.
I cried with despair-
"Forgive me, my Lord!"
But the Sun did not care.
And finally, in silence,
I walked to the earth.
I cowered in shame-
And lamented my birth.
But as I was walking,
On the hills of the Earth-
I saw flowers unfolding.
I saw beauty of worth.
I looked to the Sun-
Saw His wondrous light.
Then looked to the Earth-
Saw Her equally bright.
I see the Sun shine-
With beauty and fire.
But only the Earth-
Has all I desire.
I walked to the Sun-
But He turned me away.
I walked to the Earth-
And with Her, I shall stay.

I want to feel the love but I don’t want to be a maiden

I want your strengths but not your rule

Comfort, kindness, intellectual pursuits, including
physical delights
