Hair, Hair, Hair, Hair

Hair works by hair type, although most products are categorized for specific hair problems. You and I may both look for a product to volumize our hair. Although we may both have flat hair, my hair may be oily and yours just naturally thin and flat. We would need two different products.

(Hair type profiles are based on those in the book, "Andre talks hair". For more tips on hair care and finding a good hair dresser, I suggest that you buy the book. It is worth it.)

Type 1- STRAIGHT HAIR- Straight hair with no curl or wave.

Type 2- WAVY HAIR- Wavy hair, some what coarse with a definite "s" pattern.

Type 3- CURLY HAIR- Hair with a definite loopy "s" pattern. Hair strands have curvy lines in them when stretched out. Hair looks as though it may be coarse but it is actually soft and baby fine.

Type 4-KINKY HAIR- Hair is very tightly curled. Generally hair is very wiry, very tightly coiled, and very fragile. Hair appears to be coarse, but is actually soft, and feels "tender".

Your Hair will be faithful to you if you are faithful to it. Wash your hair, condition your hair, and do NOT style your hair with dried products on it, this will only cause your hair to break off. If you are trying to get your hair to grow, there are three things that you must remember:

1. Regular trims. This keeps the split ends at bay. When your hair splits, it will travel up the hair shaft and cause breakage.

2. Condition. Deep conditioners are very important in keeping your hair strong and will replace the vitamins that your hair losses.

3. Heat. Watch the amount of heat that you use on your hair within a given amount of time. Do NOT Hot curl your hair everyday. Try to wear your hair in ponytails, chingons, buns, or rolls.

Do not let your hair get over processed. Watch how often you have your hair chemically treated. Make sure that who ever does your hair does not retreat areas that have been relaxed or permed. This will eventually lead to breakage. Also, if your hair is chemically treated, you NEED to have it deep conditioned ONCE A WEEK!
