Living on your own is the dream of almost any body. It is a wonderful feeling to have your own things and to come home to your own house. When you are living under someone else's roof, things can get tense. So the following page and links are tips and support for those of you who think it is about time to GET OUT !!!!!!!
The first thing that you need to do is get a job. If you are already working move down to the next paragraph. If you are looking for a job, check your local paper, ask people you know, go to your local unemployment or employment security office, and search the web. Notice I did not say "OR". You need to do all of these things if you are going to actively find a job. Here is a good site to check, as far as jobs go. They even have an area where you can create a resume`.
I may need to add that you should start saving money, and try to get you credit in order.
Now, you need to make a list of the items that you use every day. Then you need to go out and start buying some of these items. This includes dishes, towels, pots, dry and canned food goods, storage containers, laundry baskets, sheets, pillows, soap. Trust me, these are some of the things that you find most useful. You can store these things in your room, closet, trunk, under your bed, or if you are needing to do this on the sneakily, store them at a friends house. (some stores will even let you put items like this on layaway. Check with your local stores to find out thier policies).
You will then be able to get some decorating items, such as vases, candles, picture frames, or just whimsical items that you know you like, or feel you might need. Some of the greatest places to find these items are you local discount department stores. Wal-mart, Target, Caldor's, and stores of that type are going to be your best bet.
Some great catalogues to get are:
Crate and Barrel-- 800-323-5461
Pottery Barn--800-922-5507
Chambers--800-334-9790
Lillian Vernon--800-285-5555
Hammacher Schlemmer--800-543-3366
Here are some interesting sites:
Domestications, they also have a catalogue
IKEA - Great furniture
Spiegel, there are some really cool items in this catalog
Wal-Mart-if you do not have a Wal-Mart in your area, this is what you are missing
Pier 1 the site does not do the store any justice.
After you have done this it is time to start looking for a place to stay.Check out All Apartments- This place will help you find an apartment, almost any where. But remember, it cost to advertise on the web. The easiest way to find an affordable place is to ask friends, family, and anyone that you associate with, and to read the paper.
