"We liked doing very simple and very down-to-earth things." -- Paul McCartney, 1998
In Scarsdale, New York on September 24, 1941, Linda Louise Eastman entered this world.

April 17, 1998; a sad and heartbreaking day, it is the day that the world lost an angel.

Perhaps many knew her best as the woman who stole the heart of a Beatle, but Linda proved to be much more than that. She possessed the ability to capture feelings and stories through her lens. Her natural talent shone through her beautiful and interesting photographs.

Linda was famous for her pictures of 60s rock legends, nature and animal photos. Her photographs were often used in Paul's solo albums and Wings albums, including Paul's latest album "Flaming Pie" which featured only Linda's photos.

Linda and Paul seemed to have had the perfect relationship, a balance of love, respect and honesty. They were married 29 years and were only apart during Paul's unfortunate stay in a Japanese prison. Their love was no doubt unshakable, everlasting. Paul will no doubt feel lost without his strong companion.

Linda left behind four children, her most important treasure. Heather, Mary, Stella and James are all incredibly well-adjusted, successful young people who no doubt made their Mother very proud. Her guidance and love will be sorely missed I'm sure.

Aside from her immense love of her family, Linda's passion and mission in life was to save animals from abuse and being eaten. She began her crusade and way of life when vegetarianism was misunderstood and mocked. Linda spoke out and not only changed her eating habits, but changed the ideas of many. She had an intense care for these animals, animals that in our society are viewed as being food without feelings and ugly. She helped break these ignorant stereotypes by presenting her case for going veggie in both a kind and intelligent way. She worked with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), and other animals rights organizations and also environmental causes. Linda was always readily available and eager to assist in animal rights campaigns and projects. She never turned away from an opportunity to save the lives of animals.

She was a special person who was brave enough to speak her mind and kind enough to acknowledge that every living thing deserves love, respect and possesses beauty. Along with her photography books, Linda had two vegetarian/vegan cookbooks published, which undoubtedly converted many to the healthy, more ethical vegetarian lifestyle. Linda also created her own line of frozen vegetarian meals, which in my opinion were quite tasty.

Linda was also very musically inclined. She not only contributed backing vocals on Paul's albums, but was a co-founder in the successful band, Wings. Much criticized for what some called a lack of talent, Linda remained solid and stationary at the keyboards, a responsibility that was hers alone. Incredible for someone who was thought to be without talent. She remained strong in the face of vicious critics, she stood by her love, Paul.

The simple things in life, that was what Linda McCartney was about. Not designer clothing or extravagant parties. No, the country life was for her. I was so very touched to learn that just two days before she left us, Linda and Paul went riding for the last time, she was able to experience one of her greatest passions for the last time.
