As I watched the plane
It looked like a graceful bird
Moving down the runway
and Disappearing into the blue sky.
My heart suddenly felt empty
and My eyes filled with tears
For on that plane that flew away
Was the man of my dreams
The Man I Loved and Married.
The picture postcard I received
Caused tears to flow again
The note was plain and simple
He's sorry he had to leave
Being in the service means
Leaving at a moments notice
"I miss you, I love you
Be home on Friday at ten
The Man You Loved and Married
With every ring of the phone
I would jump hoping it was him
Every knock on the door
Brought hopes of his return
Each night I wrote him a letter
Filled with all the love I have
But the mailman wouldn't take them
No one knows where he's gone
The Man I Loved and Married
