Xi Chi is one of ten Charleston, South Carolina Beta Sigma Phi Chapters. Xi Chi is a career chapter with 14 active members ages from 35 to 65. They are a social sorority of women who meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month all year round. The main purpose of the sorority is to promote fellowship and close supportive friendships among its members. They have degrees ranging from Ritual of Jewels to Exemplar.Members live in Summerville, West Ashley, Moncks Corner and Mt. Pleasant. Members have a wide range of careers: Deli Manager, insurance underwriters, Bankers, and several are retired.
Projects and activities throughout the sorority year include various social activities. Each member donates $10 per month towards ways & means to help support local families in need. They also collect all pocket-change at the end of meeting which goes to Camp Bluebird.
As a career chapter they reveal secret sisters at Christmas and exchange gifts with spouses also.
Several of the social activities have become traditional over the years, like an annual Pig Pickn’ in October and they invite another chapter in city council for the fun.
Most meetings are held at members' homes and include a short business meeting followed by the social part of the evening. Many members like to think of their sorority meetings as their special night out with good friends -- something just for them!
