My Family
Hi, I am Cathy, a 37 year old wife and mother. I've been married 17 years and have a 24 year old stepdaughter and 16 year old son.
Our daughter has blessed us with a fine son-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren as well. Have pics of the little ones on the family photo page. Hope to add some of their mom and dad on there soon, too.
Our son has a natural artistic talent and has been drawing since he figured out how to hold a pencil upright. He is also our family computer guru and has been very helpful to me in setting up some of my pages.
My husband is a 45 year old paint contractor, now retired. He underwent a
liver transplant five years ago and is doing great. He is still with
us due to the wonderful blessings of answered prayer, the skilled hands of
the surgeons at UAB, and the selfless gift of a family that donated their
young son's liver. As they say at the Alabama Organ Center,
"Don't take your
organs to Heaven, Heaven knows we need them here!"
Cross stitching is my favorite pastime, which I picked up several years ago from watching a sister-in-law. As idle hands make me crazy sometimes, it is the perfect activity for when my dear hubby says "Why don't you just sit down and watch TV with me for a while?" Once I started, I was hooked. Thanks to some wonderful friends I have met at another site, Cross Stitch Pals, I have recently tried linen for the first time and I love it! Now I can't wait to try more fabrics and threads for more elegant projects. I have also fallen in love with Paula Vaughan's designs. My first linen project turned out to be a rose from her "Rose Garden" leaflet that I made into a lovely little throw pillow. I have also done Aunt Verdi's Porch, which you can see on my project page. I am in the process of working on Yesterday's Dream. When I am through with it, I plan to frame them as a companion set for my living room.
