To the Darkside and Back:
Krycek's Drastic Change From Season 2 to Season 5

Part One: "...that would be me. Krycek, Alex Krycek."

Young, green, enthusiastic, snotty. Alex Krycek first appeared in the episode Sleepless. He came to Mulder with a case that was about an army experiment in which soldiers got a part of their brain removed to try to eliminate sleep. One of the soldiers hasn't slept in 24 years, and has the ability to make people imagine things that aren't there. At first, Mulder was resistant to work with Krycek and he tried to lose him. Krycek then confronts him and tells Mulder that he has always believed in his work. Scully also had some resentment against Krycek in this episode. Mulder then becomes less resentful against Krycek in the episode. At the end, Krycek is shown answering to the Cancer Man. This now proves that Krycek isn't what he seems.

In Duane Barry, Mulder and Krycek get involved with a hostage negotiation, where an "alien abductee" is holding people at gunpoint. Mulder goes in and stops Duane Barry (the abductee). Barry is brought to a mental hospital, escapes and kidnaps Scully. Mulder goes searching for her, while Krycek tries to kill Mulder. Krycek knows that Barry was really abducted by the government, and he ends up killing him in Ascension (Krycek isn't shown killing Barry, but he dies right after Krycek leaves the room). During the episode, Mulder discovers cigarette butts in his car from the Cancer Man, when he had a meeting with a Krycek. At the end of the episode, Mulder discovers that Krycek didn't have an address, and had disappeared.

Sleepless- appearance in this episode: Greenish, snotty, wishful
Duane Barry- appearance in this episode: A little less egotistic
Ascension- appearance in this episode: Drastic change, he actually tries to kill Mulder! Also, he starts doubting the Cancer Man's decision to abduct Scully.

Part Two: "...I'm alive..."

There is a huge change in Krycek in the Anasazi Trilogy. In the first part, Anasazi, a hacker called the Thinker gets a disk full of encrypted information that proves that the government knows about extraterrestrials. Also, Mulder's dad as been keeping secrets from Fox, and he is ready to tell his son the truth. Before he does, however, Krycek shoots Bill Mulder in his bathroom!!! Well, it isn't actually shown, but Krycek is the only other person in the bathroom when the shot was fired. Krycek gets away safely, and it looks like Mulder killed his father. Then, later on in the episode, Mulder discovers that Krycek has been sneaking around outside his apartment. Mulder attacks him with rage, since Mulder has been drugged, and almost kills Krycek. Scully shoots Mulder before he shoots Krycek, and Krycek escapes In the second part of the trilogy, The Blessing Way, Mulder and Scully are both in the middle of different things. Krycek has a different job, too. Krycek and the Hispanic Man are sent to kill Scully. They enter her apartment and wait for her to come. Instead, Scully's sister comes in and is accidentally shot Krycek, who thought it was Scully. Krycek and his assistant flee the crime scene.

In the final part, Paper Clip, Skinner is attacked by Krycek and by the Hispanic Man, where they steal the tape from him. Then, when Krycek and his assistant visit a pit stop on their way somewhere, Krycek sits in the car and notices that the clock is flashing. He runs from the car and it explodes. Krycek then probably realizes that the bomb was set to destroy him and the DAT tape. Krycek then phones the Cancer Man, and tells him that he is alive and that he still has the tape.

Anasazi- appearance in this episode: Appears to be more of a mindless, worker for the Cancer Man
The Blessing Way- appearance in this episode: Doesn't seem to care about killing the wrong person.
Paper Clip- appearance in this episode: Since the Cancer Man tried to kill him, Krycek has decided to leave the country and bring the DAT tape with him.

Part Three: "...Like a new man..."

In the episode Piper Maru, an oil like alien that inhabits people and can shoot bursts of radiation, is going around controlling people. Krycek comes into the picture in the beginning, where it is said that he has been selling the secrets on the DAT tape to other countries. Since the secrets are already known, the countries are after him. Mulder finds Krycek in China, where Mulder was searching for a woman. Krycek jumps Mulder, and seems very paranoid. Krycek then escapes through a window. Then, Mulder sees Krycek at the Hong Kong airport. Mulder punches him, and makes Krycek give him the key to a locker in Washington that has the DAT tape inside. Mulder tells Krycek to go clean his bloody face in the bathroom; and while he is taking a piss, a woman walks in. Krycek chuckles and the woman attacks him. The oil alien is passed into Krycek; and he and Mulder leave for Washington. Apocrypha is the continuation to Piper Maru, and it begins with them driving to the location of the DAT tape. Then, their car is forced off the road by another car and armed men come out of the other car. They get Krycek and demand for the DAT tape. They bring him behind a wall, and the alien inhabited Krycek shoots a burst of radiation at them. Mulder is lying unconscious in the car. The inhabited Krycek, later on in the episode, gives the DAT tape to the Cancer Man in exchange for transportation to the alien's ship. Krycek is brought there, and the alien leaves his body. Krycek is left in the silo that holds the alien ship.

Piper Maru- appearance in this episode: Is very paranoid and scared that the countries he dealed with were trying to find him.
Apocrypha- appearance in this episode: Since he is inhabited by an alien, he is acting very quiet and strange. Plus, he even made a deal with the man that tried to kill him (even though the alien probably didn't know that)!!!

Part Four: "The truth, the truth...there is no TRUTH!!! They just make it up as they go along..."

Miraculously, Krycek didn't die in that silo. Somehow, he got out; there are different stories in the episode that tells how he got out. While stopping a group of revolutionaries from using bombs, Mulder and Scully discover Krycek is working with the group. Krycek was also the tipster who told the agents about the militia's plans. Krycek tells the agents that he wants to help them get revenge against the Cancer Man for
locking him up in that silo, and they trust him. Krycek tells the agents about a diplomatic pouch that is being carried around by a Russian courier, who escapes from the Agents and trashes the pouch. The Agents find it and discover that there is an extraterrestrial rock; from a large meteorite that crashed in Tunguska, Russia; in it. Inside the rock are tiny, liquid worms that try to inhabit people's bodies (the worms are called the Black Oil, and they are similar to the liquid aliens in Piper Maru/Apocrypha). Krycek is brought
to Skinner's house, where Skinner beats him up and cuffs him to the rails outside his apartment. Then, when the courier appears in Skinner's apartment, Krycek fools him into falling off the building. Mulder then takes Krycek, who speaks Russian, to Russia where they search for the meteorite crash. At the site, they see slaves digging for pieces of the meteorite. Then, they get caught and are thrown in one of the mining camp's jails. Krycek then talks to the guards and gets out of the jail. Mulder, however, becomes one of the many guinea pigs of the Black Oil tests. Then, in Terma, Mulder escapes from the camp, and takes Krycek with him. Krycek then jumps from the car Mulder stole and runs into the woods. There, he meets a group of men with just one arm. He lies to them and they treat him with care. Then, at night, the men cut off Krycek's left arm. They believe that that is the only cure against the Black Oil. Mulder gets back to America, and Krycek commends the assassin, who has been covering up the Black Oil through out the episode.

Tunguska- appearance in this episode: An even more of a double crosser in this episode, since he turned in the revolutionaries that he worked with.
Terma- appearance in this episode: He seems to be a KGB agent, because he has connections with the operator of the mining camp.

Part Five: "...If they give me what I want, I'll rule the world..."

Krycek next appeared in the episode Patient X, where Krycek captures a boy who has witnessed a UFO sighting and has seen an alien going around burning people. Krycek confronts Marita at the people-burning site, and tells her that he has a witness to what happened. Krycek later on gets info from the witness by beating him and by subjecting him to the Black Oil test. Dmitri (the witness) has his eyes and mouth sewn shut so the Black Oil can't leave his body. Then, Krycek steals one of the vaccines for the Black Oil and somehow kills the doctor that put Dmitri to the test. Krycek takes Dmitri on board a ship that is heading to the US. Krycek then phones the Majestic Group and makes a deal. When the ship reaches America, Krycek encounters Marita on board. They tongue each other (hehehehe) and they leave so no one can see them make out. When Krycek returns, Dmitri is gone and the WMM confronts Krycek, demanding where the boy was. In The Red and the Black, the WMM chains Krycek to the wall of the ship and deals with Krycek for the vaccine against the Black Oil. Krycek is released and surprises Mulder at his apartment. After a humorous joke about his left arm, Krycek tells Mulder the real story about the colonists and about the burnings during the episode. Krycek gives him the location of a captured alien rebel and leaves.

Patient X- appearance in this episode: He seems to be a cold-hearted, pleasure seeking, traitor to his country. He is soooooo cool. The Red and the Black- appearance in this episode: He seems now to be a little less cruel, since he helps out Mulder.

Part Six: "I was...sent to bring you back..."

In the latest episode with Krycek in it, The End, Krycek seems to be working for the WMM. Krycek is sent on a mission to go retrieve the Cancer Man from Quebec, Canada. He finds the Cancer Man and chases him down. Krycek brings him back to America, and acts like the chauffeur for the WMM for the rest of the episode. An interesting comment at the end (a little pun:-)):
Krycek: I have a clear shot at him...
WMM: No, he may be useful to you in the future

Does this mean that Krycek might become the newest member of the Majestic Group??? I hope that the writers expand on this idea in the 6th Season.

The End- appearance in this episode: Krycek is back with the Majestic Group and is the WMM's task man.

THE FINAL COMPARISON:
From a green agent, to the guy with the dirty work, to a loner with everyone after him, to an alien's host, to a Russian Spy, to a dealer, and finally back to a dirty worker.
