I make my home in Beautiful Northern BC, Canada.
I visit the board daily.

My Size Stats: 18/13-15/9.
I have lost 21 inches so far! I started Atkins on 10/11/99.
I don't use ketostix
I restrict myself to under 20 grams of carbs and I don't eat many dairy products (allergies).

My exercise regime:

  • I do Tae Bo or go to the gym 4-5 times per week. At the gym I alternate cardio/interval training with weight training. I also do Callanetics (deep muscle toning), aerobics, cycling, cross country skiing and I take my 5 Salukis for long walks (though not as regularly as I should). I also do a lot of work in my garden and out at the barn tending to my miniature farmyard.

What I usually eat in a day:

  • Breakfast - beef and cream cheese roll ups; 2 eggs scrambled and some bacon; turkey/ham/chicken/tuna salad with mayo and avocado; fried pork or beef steak or a chicken breast
  • Lunch - 2 pork patties with cheese melted on top and a dolop of mayo/mustard; breadless Reuben Sandwich; homemade soup; spinach salad with chopped chicken breast
  • Supper - chicken, pork or beef prepared in a variety of ways with a vegetable or salad
  • Snack - (if I eat one) pork rinds with sour cream dip; pepperoni and cheese

I am currently doing the Atkins Candida version of the WOL and it seems to work better for me but it is very restrictive. It eliminates, cheeses, vinegar, sweeteners and mushrooms from my diet. I do this for several weeks and the revert to the regular Atkins diet for a break.

My favorite recipe:

  • Parmesan Chicken; Pork Tenderloin in Sour Cream Dill Sauce.

My inspiration:

  • I want to be healthy and fit for myself and for my family and to feel good a bout myself once again. I use thin photographs of myself as inspiration. Fitting into smaller, sexier clothes also works good for inspiration but most of all the way I feel and look is the biggest inspiration of all and the compliments I get from others don't hurt either!

My goals:
I want to wear a bikini again.
I want to be able to look at a beautiful outfit on a mannequin or in a catalogue and know that it will come in my size and look good on me.
I want to blend into photographs by not being 2x as large as everyone else.
I want to play in the garden with my family and not look like a hippo.
I want to feel confident and sexy rather than conspicuous and jiggly.
I want to be in control of my body instead of it controlling me.
Have you experienced any negative effects: Odd smokey spots on my teeth (added more calcium to my diet after this), scale obsessing, frequent stalls for no apparent reason. A predisposition to tartar which I never had before. Gluttony and excessive rapid wieght gain if I go off the diet for a short time.

My comments:

  • I have never really dieted prior to Atkins and love the presence of a support group to share ideas with and vent from time to time. I am looking forward to success and reaching my goals!
