Whereas it is abundantly clear that the gay man and woman is not afforded equal rights in the United States;
Whereas this denial of equal rights has prevented the gay man and woman from attaining equal employment, housing, medical care and military standing;
Whereas this denial of equal rights is contrary to the inherent, inalienable rights of humankind and contrary to the spirit of the Constitution of the United States,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the intent and purpose of the Gay Community of the United States to accomplish the following on or before July 4, 2004:
1) an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States declaring that discrimination based on sexual preference or orientation is prohibited;
2) the legalization of gay marriage in all of the United States, its territories and possessions with all of the rights appurtenant thereto;
3) the dedication of all of the resources of the United States resulting in the attainment of a cure for AIDS;
4) the statutory guarantee of equal housing and medical care for all members of the gay community;
5) the prohibition of discrimination within the military of the United States based on sexual preference or orientation.
The goals are clear;
The task is great;
Now is the time to act!
