Toga Party Kicks Off Reign 16's Benefits at Crossings
It's a "Greek" thing! Relive your college years, on Saturday, August 23rd, when the Royal Sovereign Imperial Court holds a Toga Party at Crossings, 117 N. Limestone.  Awards & prizes will be awarded to the best themed togas. The night will be capped off by the crowning of the "King & Queen of the Toga". Your donation of $2.00, at the door, benefits the designated charities of the RSIC of All Kentucky.   The key to an award-winning toga is originality! After all, a toga can be as complicated - or simple - as you want it to be. Your toga should be a reflection of YOU!

First ... decide how many sheets you'll need. If you are "daring", one may do it; if you're a bit more modest (like me) you might need a couple sheets. White sheets work just fine, and they don't have to be new. Try combining a white sheet with a patterned sheet. Are you worried that your spare sheet may be too ratty. Well .... a few holes in a toga CAN be a good thing! Are you into leather? Well, naturally you'll want to decorate your toga with items that reflect your personality. Remember - accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!!! And *what* do you wear under your toga? Well .... that's a lot like asking what you wear under a kilt! If you feel comfortable in it, then it's right. Whatever you decide, enjoy the evening - and thanks for helping out the Court's charities!

The Toga Party gets underway at Crossings on Saturday, August 23rd, at 9:00 PM. There is a $2.00 donation at the door. Some sheets will be available for those of you needing a little *help* with your toga.

Closet Ball Winners
are as out or in as they want.
Closet Ball Queen I, Andromeda Strange, recently performed at the Kick-off party at Vertigo.  Another Closet Ball Queen, John Moses, emceed that event.  Closet Ball 16 is coming up soon: August 28, 9:00 PM at The Bar Complex.  A $4 donation is all that is asked for a show filled with all sorts of entertainment. The Closet Ball is a Pageant open to men or women, wishing to perform for the first time as the “other gender”.  While the contestants are making themselves over, the stage is filled with the Court’s best performers.

Unity Show: Successful Kick-off
The Unity Show and Kick Off party with the Cincinnati Court, held  in Lexington's newest club, Vertigo, was a great success.  Held on Friday, July 25, It immediately followed Investitures across the street at the Main Library. During one number, by Viscountess 16 Randi Lane, an impromptu dance line formed behind her.  Headed by Buffalo’s Gladys Over, Ohio’s Jim Smith, Ray Allen and tailed by Terry Stroub, the dance line shimmied and swayed to the performance of Miss Lane.  The crowd was very mixed,  and the new fans of the court were impressed.  It is suspected that the Court  may have done more outreach to the community at large that night than it even suspected we would

Books Donated
The Royal Sovereign Imperial Court of All Kentucky kicked off it's first-ever book drive this year. Begun in late Spring by Empress 15 Natalie Gaye & Emperor 15 Paul Johnson, it was continued by Empress 16 Chanda Lier & Emperor 16 Elvin Harkins.  They presented hundreds of gay & lesbian themed books - both fiction and non-fiction - to local organizations. Lexington's AVOL (AIDS Volunteers) and Louisville's Community Health Trust received the first shipment. The Court also distributed books to PWAs all across Central and Eastern Kentucky.
While the Imperial Court always strives to raise money for it's designated charities, it also seeks to provide some "hands-on" relief to the people it serves. This year's Book Drive is one example of how the Imperial Court can directly benefit the gay & lesbian community of the Commonwealth. Books were donated by individuals as well as companies.
