First ... decide how many sheets you'll need. If you are "daring", one may do it; if you're a bit more modest (like me) you might need a couple sheets. White sheets work just fine, and they don't have to be new. Try combining a white sheet with a patterned sheet. Are you worried that your spare sheet may be too ratty. Well .... a few holes in a toga CAN be a good thing! Are you into leather? Well, naturally you'll want to decorate your toga with items that reflect your personality. Remember - accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!!! And *what* do you wear under your toga? Well .... that's a lot like asking what you wear under a kilt! If you feel comfortable in it, then it's right. Whatever you decide, enjoy the evening - and thanks for helping out the Court's charities! The Toga Party gets underway at Crossings on Saturday, August 23rd, at 9:00 PM. There is a $2.00 donation at the door. Some sheets will be available for those of you needing a little *help* with your toga. |

Unity Show: Successful Kick-off
The Unity Show and Kick Off party with the Cincinnati Court, held in Lexington's newest club, Vertigo, was a great success. Held on Friday, July 25, It immediately followed Investitures across the street at the Main Library. During one number, by Viscountess 16 Randi Lane, an impromptu dance line formed behind her. Headed by Buffalo’s Gladys Over, Ohio’s Jim Smith, Ray Allen and tailed by Terry Stroub, the dance line shimmied and swayed to the performance of Miss Lane. The crowd was very mixed, and the new fans of the court were impressed. It is suspected that the Court may have done more outreach to the community at large that night than it even suspected we would |
| Books Donated
The Royal Sovereign Imperial Court of All Kentucky kicked off it's first-ever book drive this year. Begun in late Spring by Empress 15 Natalie Gaye & Emperor 15 Paul Johnson, it was continued by Empress 16 Chanda Lier & Emperor 16 Elvin Harkins. They presented hundreds of gay & lesbian themed books - both fiction and non-fiction - to local organizations. Lexington's AVOL (AIDS Volunteers) and Louisville's Community Health Trust received the first shipment. The Court also distributed books to PWAs all across Central and Eastern Kentucky. While the Imperial Court always strives to raise money for it's designated charities, it also seeks to provide some "hands-on" relief to the people it serves. This year's Book Drive is one example of how the Imperial Court can directly benefit the gay & lesbian community of the Commonwealth. Books were donated by individuals as well as companies. |
