GYPSY

And as the twilight did the silence bring
a song arose, a mournful thing
it wafted up into the air
and bade to come, and all were there

And as I peered into the night
I glimpsed a magic, wondorous sight
For all attended, stone and tree
and danced the dance of jubilee

And as I crept across the way
The stones would leap, the trees would sway
They circled round and round a flame
A rythmic never ending game

And in the center of the dance
I saw the reason for this trance
A gypsy woman, hair alight
Her eyes aflame, her visage white

And all these things she did command
The rocks the trees the earth the sand
A beauty deep beyond compare
The smell of magic in the air

And as I stepped into the fray
The gypsy woman flew away
The trees and rocks fell to the ground
A flash of lightening broke the sound

And when I woke I searched about
To seek the gypsy woman out
But as the night turned into day

I stopped my hunt and turned away

So now I sit beneath the night
for every now and then I might
Hear the gypsy woman wail
And sing again her wondorous tail
