...If you take life as a crazy gamble
Throw your dice, take your chance
You will see it from the different angle
And you too, can join the dance
("Make it Real", 1980)

The band named "Scorpions" was probably the first German band which achieved such popularity in the whole world. First appearing in 1972, the Germans issued their first album a year later and became really well-known after "Fly to the Rainbow" - their second album, which appeared in 1974. Klaus Meine the vocalist and Rudolph Schenker the guitarist are the only ones who never left the band and are still present. Rudolph Schenker in pair with his brother Michael was the establisher of the band in 1971. More than 25 years passed and the band still exists, although Meine celebrates his 50th anniversary in 1998 and Schenker is 47 years old.

Years were passing by, and the number of albums released by "Scorpions" grew. They issued 13 studio-, 3 live- and 3 greatest hits-albums - a very serious job was done. But the band won't stop - the guys are already working on a new album with an experimental name "Dragonfly".

As the members of the band grew older, their music became softer. They started with such hard-rock as "Virgin Killer, "Blackout", "Lovedrive" and their last album "Pure Instinct" is mostly the collection of ballads, although there are couple of songs that probably can even be called "hard" ("Wild Child" and "Stone in My Shoe"), but "Scorpions" are definetely not the same that they used to be.

For some people the visit card of "Scorpions" are their beautiful ballads, like "Wind of Change", "Still Loving You", "Always Somewhere", "Born to Touch Your Feelings" and so on. But the band is not only a "ballads-maker" - they created real hard-rock songs which are not in any case worse than their ballads.

As the time passed, the duet "Meine-Schenker" became the most productive. Meine is writing lyrics for the songs, while Schenker's task is music. And they still do it so well, that the band continues not only to exist, but to stay popular all over the world. The fans are waiting for every album to come with a lot of impatience.

The most surprising thing for me was to find out that there are very few homepages on the Internet dedicated to this great band. You can find the links to every "Scorpions" homepage by pressing the "links" button. If, for example, some stupid modern pop-artists have dozens of homepages made by their fans, there are very few those who want to create a HP dedicated to "Scorpions", and that is surprising and sad.

To find more about the band's history, you can either press the "history" button or just click here.
And the best "Scorpions"album in my opinion is "Love at First Sting".
