PV Pride '99 Report
By Idealist
The second annual Pink Village Pride festival took
place during the weekend of October 24 - 25, with two days full of activities
and events.
This year, PV Pride had 7 outside sponsors (see full web
report) who provided us with prizes ranging
from Music CDs and AW citizenship to t-shirts and books. Participants
who had reserved free Pride Passes competed for the
prizes by collecting Pink Pride Poles (PPPs) throughout the weekend by
attending events and sending in correct Pride words, as well contributing
to some of the events, such as the Funfactory.
The events included the Opening Ceremonies; Community
Booths hours honoring our sponsors; Discussion Groups; Simon T's Real Life Pride
exhibit; the Milestones Museum grand opening depicting recent advances
in GLBT rights; tours of Pink Island and Lesbianville; Saturday's Bonfire
- Funfactory party (where we not only burned our most hated AW objects,
but also the Building Inspector!); the annual Pink Parade, which this year
not only took us through streets of Pink Village, but also through AW Ground
Zero; an All Nations Gala featuring pictures submitted by participants
of 3 different nations (USA, Norway and Finland); and the closing ceremonies
where the 3 participants who had collected the most PPPs got to select
prizes - congratulations, CyberBoy (who, unfortunately, wasn't present),
The Slayer, and Monny! Also congrats to Doffen, who won the random prizes
drawing.

World AIDS Day
By Bille (GAPIMNY Newsletter)
Since 1988 December 1st has been a day bringing messages
of compassion, hope, solidarity and understanding about AIDS to every country
in the real world, North and South, East and West. Now the time has
come to bring World AIDS Day also to the virtual world..
You are all invited to join us in an AIDS gathering in
Pink Village, December 1st. We'll visit the Memorial Garden where ppl have
planted flowers in the name of friends who died from AIDS, and of course
we'll visit the Pride AIDS Quilt, which was further enlarged during the
Cyber Pride this October. You can still order quilt pieces by contacting
Idealist. Finally we'll visit Lesbianville's Chapel of Love, where anyone
who like to express themselves can do so.
Here's some background information, snipped from GAPIMNY
Newsletter: World AIDS Day emerged from the call by the World Summit of
Ministers of Health on Programmes for AIDS Prevention in January 1988 to
open channels of communication, strengthen the exchange of information
and experience, and forge a spirit of social tolerance. Since then, World
AIDS Day has received the support of the World Health Assembly, the United
Nations system, and governments, communities and individuals around the
world.
Pink Focus: Chilkoot
By Idealist
Next several issues of PP will introduce various Pink
Village citizens to the Pink Point readers. Chilkoot is the 2nd Pink
Village citizen to be featured in Pink Point's Pink Focus series..
Chilcoot
is a 35 year old lesbian from Michigan, USA, with a background in industrial
machinery sales. She is newly single after a long term relationship.
Her main interest in Active Worlds has been to chat in an interesting environment.
She says she loves PV because it puts her in touch with a really nice gay
and lesbian community filled with polite, interesting people. When
I asked her if there was anything else she'd like to add about herself,
in her characteristic sense of humor she suggested "moody, whiny bitch"
and/or "35-yr-old overly assertive lesbian with good job seeks a wife."
;-)

Funny Faces
By Bille
Oki,so this article is just in order to fill in this
empty space... But, nevertheless, Gallerie
2222's new exhibition, Funny Faces, opened November 13th, and if you
are among the 612.005 AW users who missed the opening, you should go check
out those funny and spooky faces.
The
images show portraits of AW avatars and RL celebrities. Harold, Butch,
Vannessa, Rachel and other avatars are mixed with Hillary, Marilyn, Michael,
and Elvis - and even Queen Elisabeth is wearing an avatar's sunglasses!
No offence RL celebs, but you do look pretty cool with details from our
virtual universe:)
Funny Faces will be up for about 2 months.
Any comments or contributions to Pink Point,
especially gay/lesbian- and Pink Village related stuff,
are highly appreciated!
