To get on IRC the first thing you must do is download one of these chat clients(programs).

For windows the two most popular clients are:
mIRC and Pirch

For Mac the most popular client is:
ircle

Once you have downloaded and installed an IRC client I suggest reading the help files that come with the client before you attempt connecting to a server. Also I recomend going to Dalnet and reading their "How Do I" section this will help you understand Dalnet services and comands.
