Pooh gets
her own page here because there has big a big debate going on between those
of us here at Sapphic Sisters as to the sex of Pooh. Some argue that Pooh
is a boy while others of us argue that Pooh is a girl. The name seems to
tell all and the text leaves us with a feeling of ambiguity. We are interested
in what others think. Is Pooh (Winnie that is ) male or female? There has
been a suggestion that not only is Pooh female but that she is a lesbian.
Thus, always having her face, hand, head, etc. in the "Hunny Pot". Do you
know what "ther" means?
When
I first heard his name, I said, just as you are going to say, "But I thought
he was a boy"
"So did I,"
said Christopher Robin.
"Then you
can't call him Winnie?"
"I don't."
"But you said---"
"He's Winnie-ther-Pooh.
Don't you know what 'ther' means?"
"Ah, yes,
now I do," I said quickly; and I hope you do too,
because it
is all the explanation you are going to get.
