What is passion?

Passion is knowledge mixed with emotion. I think you can always tell when someone is passionate about something. Their eyes glow, their voice becomes more intense, their blood starts to flow quickly. Everyone is passionate about something. I'm passionate about being a good person. I get passionate about learning more and growing every day. I get excited when talking about the financial industry and what it has been doing to people and families for a hundred years. When I talk about my physical activities, like Tae Kwon do, basketball or baseball, you'll know that I love what I'm talking about. So for me to sit down and find one thing that I am truly passionate about was definitely a challenge for me. And then it hit me. The one thing that I am most passionate about is life.

We have so much potential locked inside of us. Our minds are the most powerful tools we can use and for most of us it is the only thing stopping us from accomplishing everything we'd love to accomplish. Like every person on earth we have anxiety, self doubt, fear of failure and sometimes even fear of success. If we truly believed in our abilities we wouldn't feel these things. Someone once said to me, "If you knew that anything you ever started, you would be guaranteed to succeed at it, would you still worry?" Of course not, what would we have to worry about? However, knowing the end result in everything wouldn't be that much fun.

Most people fear failure so much that they won't even try once. If you never try, you will never succeed. Success is not an accident. No great success ever came from someone that didn't try. No great success ever came from someone that didn't fail first. John Maxwell calls it failing forward. I think most of us probably heard it from our mothers, "if at first we don't succeed try, try again."

When you fall flat on your face, jump up, dust yourself off, put a Band-Aid on you knee and keep going. Most of us are so embarrassed when we fall on our face we jump up and make sure no one was watching.

Then stop trying to walk at all. Why? It is because our mind tells us to. People tend to let a lot of negative thoughts control their lives, including me. If someone else came up to you and said the things you said to yourself, you would probably punch them in the face. So why do we say them to ourselves.

People learn how to work their biceps, their calves, and abs, but they don't learn how to work their brain. The great thing is that we can work out our brains. We can learn to change our minds. You are the architect of you life.

I have been working on my life for a few years now. That is to say Iˇ¦ve been reading great books, attending workshops and trying my best to practice what I preach. Everyone has there off days and so do I. But I love allowing myself the time and energy to get better. I am a very competitive person by nature and lately I've been mostly competing with myself. I can't stand to lose. I'm not very good at hiding that, although I am working on it. Three years ago my life was pretty much on a downward slope that seemed like it was heading in to an endless pit. Decision time came. Do I finish the race early or do I get back on my bike and try one more time. Only this time try harder. As you can tell I got back on the bike. But my decision had an amendment attached to it. STOP DOING WHAT YOUˇ¦RE DOING! My decision was to find out what needed to get fixed and fix it. So I started on my road of self help and perseverance. I had been down the road before but I hadn't seen it for years. I sat down with a friend that helps others create goal setting strategies. We took a good look at what it was I wanted to get out of this life. I was feeling very insignificant and unable to comprehend the amount of power I had within me. I knew that I was put on this earth to accomplish something great. There are signs that have lead me to that conclusion, mostly due to the fact that I no longer have some of my nine lives. This was the beginning. From then on I was pretty stuck in mud about working out what I needed to work out. I began reading again. Reading quite a lot. With each book I felt myself becoming stronger than I had been. I found a passion again. Something I hadn't felt for a very long time. I started to love life again, as everyone should. Life is a gift.

I have broken this into four sections that I feel best fit how to describe my passion for life. They are: Goal setting, Positive mental attitude, Fear and Success. I chose fear because that is what I believe is the one thing that stops us from reaching the other three. So let's start there.

Over Coming Fear Positive Mental Attitude Goal Setting Success
