If you are on this page then you already know a bit about what is here.
I am a crossdresser, transvestite, transgendered male, and many other "titles" that really have little or no meaning. What *I* am is a person that feels that the drama and drudgery that goes along with the Societally Defined Gender Roles is bull, and it is NOT for me! I was born a male and I will always be a male physically. On the other hand, I have never really thought of myself as a "male". All through my life I have been comfortable standing with one foot on each side of the gender fence. I liked to play with dolls and the other girls. I also liked playing Army with the other boys. I have always been quite shy and sensitive. I have always liked "pretty" clothes. From pre-school childhood on I have been interested in all feminine attire and have taken any chance I had to wear anything I could get my hands on!
Many people associate crossdressing with sexual perversion. That is not always so. As with any group in the world, you can find "deviants" <-- (Societies Word, not mine), in any group. And as is mostly the case, we remember the "bad" and forget the "good". Those "bad" apples have tainted the flavor of the word, and hence the deed to one that is distasteful to the general public. Yes, things are getting better, people are starting to realize that someone else's individuality may not hurt them and isn't necessarily wrong, OR are they just becoming immune to the over exposure?! You may say that one is as good as the other. I disagree. Acceptance of ones own beliefs is what we all strive to achieve. Wearing someone down until they just give in and say "what the heck", is not the goal that "we" should be shooting for, but acceptance on an equal level!
You say that equality is a myth? I agree with you there! There may never be true equality as long as the human race is made up of individuals. I think the only true equality could come about if the entire race was cloned from one being. That is true equality. So, what are we searching for, really? For me, equality means that I can do as I please, as long as I hurt no one else, and it will be accepted as easily as saying, 'Oh, the sun is rising in the east'. A manner of thinking of our fellows on this planet as not ghastly, or peculiar, but different and beautiful in their own individuality.
