The Adriatic was launched on September 20, 1906, the same day as Cunard's Mauretania. She was completed in April 1907 and made her maiden voyage on May 8, 1907 from Liverpool to New York. On June 5th, she was put on the Southampton to New York run lasting until August 24, 1911, when she went back on Liverpool to New York service. In 1919 her passenger accommodation was changed to: 400-1st class, 465-2nd class, 1,320-3rd class. From September 3rd until May of 1922 she ran on the Southampton to New York service. In May 1922 she reverted back to Liverpool to New York service. On August 11, 1922 there was an explosion in one of her coal bunkers; 5 dead, 4 injured. In 1928 her passenger accommodation was once again changed to: 506-Cabin Class, 560-Tourist Class, 404-3rd Class. August of 1933 saw the Adriatic laid up at Liverpool. In February 1934 Cunard Line and White Star Line merged to form the Cunard White Star Line. The Adriatic entered service once again, but was laid up again in September. In November 1934 she was sold for breaking-up in Japan, and on March 5, 1935 the Adriatic arrived in Osaka, Japan and was scrapped.
