Cats on Broadway
I finally got to see Cats on Broadway, several times even. And if you've been to my main gallery then you know I love to take pictures. So here I have all the lovely pix from my trips to New York. And thank you so much to all the wonderful performers who tolerated me, you know who you are!
We'll start with an obvious one:
The Winter Garden in New York, home of Broadway Cats
Following are pictures from my trip in January 2000:
Billy Johnstone (Coricopat) and myself
Jeffry Denman, a most excellent Munkustrap, and myself
Jeffry Denman, Tesha Buss (Rumpelteazer), and Cindy, who more or less managed the trip
Keith Wilson (Plato/Macavity/Rumpus Cat) standing off by himself
Julius Sermonia, a very cute Mistoffelees, and myself
Keith Wilson, Celina Carvajal (Demeter), Julius Sermonia, Missy Lay Zimmer (Victoria), and two friends of Missy's
Stephen Bienskie (Rum Tum Tugger) and myself
We also like to see Swing! when we're in New York, mainly because Michael Gruber is in it
My first time meeting Michael; he was quite charming. (January trip)
Michael Gruber displaying the T shirt I made for him (May trip)
Me with Michael Gruber (May trip, see how we fit against each other!)
Me with Michael Gruber on his last day in Swing! (July trip)
Sadly, Cats will be closing in early September and the Winter Garden will be housing Mama Mia (according to rumors)
Following are pictures from my trip in May 2000:
Stephen Bienskie, the epitome of Tuggerness
Lenny Daniel, an extremely appealing Alonzo
James Hadley, a playful Skimbleshanks
Billy Johnstone, good as Coricopat, but absolutely kick-tail as Mungojerrie
Jon Erik Goldberg (Pouncival) and Larissa Thurston, who was standing in for Cassandra that night.
Three enthusiastic Cats fans from the forum at Musicals.net: SadieCass, Aurora, and Kat
Jack Shot, another frequenter of the Cats forum at Musicals.net, and Celina Carvajal
Me with Jon Erik Goldberg, an absolutely adorable Pouncival
Me with Lenny Daniel, such a charming gentleman
Keith Wilson and myself (RUMPUS RUMPUS RUMPUS!)
Following are pictures from my trip in July 2000
Me with my army brother Vincent outside the Winter Garden. He gets credit for taking this batch of pictures.
Keith Wilson and Julius Sermonia signing playbills at the stage door
Me with Keith Wilson (Wow!)
Jeffry Denman and myself (I like the beard.)
Me with Linda Balgord (Grizabella)
Mattethias (a friend from the Cats forum), Jon Erik Goldberg, and myself
Jon Erik Goldberg and Kyra (sister Cats fan)
Me with Lenny Daniel (siiiigghh)
The following pictures are from my September 2000 trip and were taken by my friend Alice. She used a digital camera, which is why these aren't cropped.
We start this last batch with a lovely picture of the rear of the Winter Garden Theatre at dusk.
Me with Stephen Bienskie at the stage door. (He always seems to be the first one out.)
Me with Billy Johnstone, whom I missed the first night and had to catch on the second.
Me with Julius Sermonia; I managed to get him away from his fan club. ;~)
Jon Erik Goldberg (the most adorable Pouncival) and myself
Keith Edward Wilson and myself. (He looks like he has stars in his eyes.)
I saved the best for last! Lenny Daniel (an ever-appealing Alonzo) and myself
Well, I guess that's it until the rumored Cats tour finds its way to Virginia. Let me just mention that I would be delighted to share pictures with other fans, but I would appreciate it if my permission were asked first and I am properly credited. Thank you.
And now I have pix from the Cats fan-cast party on September 7, 2000. Enjoy!
