Dorper Sheep Page - Picture Gallery
A Black Headed
Persian ewe,

crossed with a Dorset Horn Ram,

produced the Dorper that we know
today.
This Dorper ram, Jabra, was sold
for a record R70,000 ( ± US$ 15,000 in July 1997) at an auction
in 1994.

This ram "Chips" was
sold for an even higher figure, the highest yet, R150,000, (US$
32,300) in 1996.

Chips (10 months above)
developed into a mature ram, (below) showing an excellent example
of the Dorper Breed. Chips was the 1996 South African Grand
Champion Ram.

type. Courtesy of Matie Le Roux.

the use of these photos. In other cases, we acknowledge the
Breeder in question where known, and for the rest we would like
to be the first to know about any objections to the use of the

is our opinion that Breeders will all be delighted by the
information on this page, and we will take kindly any advice,
comment, critique etc. that might improve this site. To this end,
send mail to dolf@geocities.com
to unburden your heart. You may use the same mail address to ask
for permission to use the pictures featured on this page for your
own projects. Permision will be granted on the merrit of the
project, which will be judged solely by Dolf Lategan.
