Winner of the 1986 Melbourne Cup (odds  10/1 carrying 49kgs in 3:21.7 minutes)  and the Mackinnon Stakes.
At Talaq came to Australia in late 1985 following his victory in France in the Grand Prix de Paris to join the raising stables of Colin Hayes.  He earned $1,289,850 at the track and stood at stud  until his untimely death at Delamere Stud Farm on the Mornington Peninsular, Victoria in 1995.  An autopsy revealed he had ruptured a vessel within the heart.  He sired the winners of more than $5,000,000 including 1993 Doncaster Handicap winner Skating, and 1994 Rosehill Guineas hero, Star of Maple.
