DRAGON's BACK and BIG WAVE BAY BEACH
Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong SAR

HOW TO GET THERE? To reach the start of the Route, take a minibus, taxi or bus no. 9 bound for Shek O, from near Shau Kei Wan MTR Station (Exit A), and get out above to To Tei Wan. To Join the route after the Dragon's Back Section, get out near Tai Tam Gap, by the sign indicating SHEK O COUNTRY PARK. Mini Buses and Bus No.9 depart Shek O for Shau Kei Wan. (From Hong Kong Pathfinder)

What we actually did is reversed. We went straight to Big Wave Bay beach and camp there then we hike up dragon's back from there. This could be also a "hiking, beachneering and rock climbing circuit". After hiking the dragon's back, spend the night at big wave bay beach (no tents allowed) and the second day could be spent on the nearby Tai Tau Chau where the crags are, is walking distance from the main Shek O Village. The main village is about 15-20 minutes walk from Big Wave Bay on a paved road which cuts between golf course fairways.

The Group: Banny and Ces Defeo, Roger and daughter Nena, Teddy Arellano, Titos Escueta and Eva, our italian friend.

BIG WAVE BAY

We stayed overnight at the barbeque area. If the weather is good, you can sleep on the beach but there is one problem, MOSQUITOS! Be sure to have a sleeping bag or "malong" and a camping mosquito net for your face.
