Ever seen one of these curious fellows? Hummingbird Moths feed upon my Buddleia. Their wings flutter so fast they appear almost transparent like the hummingbird's. If you want to attract these guys, beautiful butterflies, and hummingbirds, Buddleia will definitely do it. It's easy to grow, too.
I'm sooo proud of my Virginia Bluebells! Lots of people tell me they have trouble growing them. I must have found the perfect spot for mine because they are very happy & keep getting bigger & better with each new spring. This past spring was the second since I planted a small plant. I have to fight the snails from them though (Note the holes in the leaves). Evidently they taste as sweet as they look! I NEVER spray my flowers. I would never harm the beautiful creatures that feed upon them. I put out some snailbait powder around the flowers the snails like. It works very well. I have to do this for my zinnias also. The snails eat the tops off of the seedlings otherwise.
And Moonflowers! I have found the secret to growing them also. They don't like to be transplanted. You have to grow them where you put the seeds.
(Background by....me :-) You may use it but please give me credit.
