Hey guys,
Thanks to all who came out to the meeting tonight... If you haven't
guessed, I can't sleep right now, so I thought that writing to all of you
might put me to sleep ;-) To those of you who don't usually get these
messages, there is something in this one that pertains to you (probably
international camp specifically, but if you guys want to participate in
anything else, let us know.)
For those of you who didn't make it, we went to Harbourfront Park and
did _not_ rollerblade, since it was very wet. Not raining, but wet. Some
of us actually got food from Hutches/Stoney Creek Dairy like according to
the plan, while others were too lazy to drive to the top of the hill.
Anyway, a somewhat productive meeting was in there too (yes, some things
were pulled out of that wreckage of ten minutes of all of our lives.)
Parade/Attawonderonk Moot
This weekend. For all who can make it, please meet at Sir John A.
MacDonald School on Friday at 5:00pm to help set up for the 60th Anniversary
of the Parade celebration. Wildman, Miller, Todd and Big Dave have
committed themselves, and any others are encouraged to help out.
Please meet for the parade at 9:00am on Saturday at Victoria Park.
People are interested in going up to Attawonderonk Moot at Camp Everton
(near Acton) on Saturday night, and are waiting to find out if Miller is
working in his cartoon or if he can drive. If you're interested, check with
Miller.
International Camp
International Camp is the weekend of June 5-7 at Confereration Park in
Stoney Creek. about 3000 Scouts from the US and Canada. Its a lot of fun,
and we are committed to escorting the Scouts. I think there is only a few
who are going so not a big deal. Unfortunately, we really need someone who
can stay at camp over Saturday night. Originally the first 3 people I
talked to about it were all OK for the weekend, so I told Ted that we could
take care of the Scouts. Now, due to unforseen circumstances, none of those
people can stay over on Saturday. Please let me know if you can help us out
at all.
There also seems to be quite a contingent going down to the Park on
Saturday for the afternoon. If you want to come along, let me know.
Canada's Wonderland
Almost everyone at the meeting was interested in going to Wonderland
sometime over the summer, so it is definately a go. Heather is to find out
when she can get us cheap tickets.
Religion in Life Award
One initiative we would like to take on as a group within the Crew this
summer is the Religion in Life Award. Some of us already have one or more
levels of the Award, and some don't. We will be aiming to earn either the
Red or Purple level - we probably won't be sticking with requirements set by
any denomination, but rather some discussion on what 'Religion in Life' is
all about. The actual format is still up in the air, and can be decided
upon by those interested in joining us.
So far, Adam, myself, Heather, Mike Hall and Big Dave have expressed
interest. Please let either Adam or myself know if you are interested.
Thanks, and good night
Mike
