Hallowe'en Moot '99
16 - 17 October 1999  -  Burford, Ontario

There were actually 12 Thunderbirds (plus 2 significant others) in attendance at Hallowe'en Moot this year - the most we've had together at one time since the summer of 1997!

Flynno and Katherine, Huck, Lumberman, Miller, Laura, Dave, Melissa, Allison, Dan, Brian, Dale & Carl and Cory all made it out on Saturday night.   Now here's a recap of events, according to Squire Mom...

One of the things about the Fall every year is Scouting gets back from Summer Holidays and in full swing again! One of the best known Moots is Hallowe'en Moot held in Burford, ON.  The event is run by the 1st Burford Crew who try to convince everryone they're coming to the "Hub of the Universe!"

The plan was that people were going up at various times because of work and other commitments. Mom picked up Squire Dan and met Alison at the Mohawk and Scenic Dr. Tim Hortons.  Alison got the big red truck from her dad and doesn't like to drive it all that much.  But she decided since she's going into red-neck country she better bring it! Well there partner lets saddle up and get going! It started off with Big Red in the lead as we left Ancaster and headed for Brantford.

About half way to Brantford Lil'put put, pulled out into the lead and zoomed ahead until he took the wrong exit and went for a scenic drive through the edge of Brantford.  The travelling companions in Lil'put put finally met up with Big Red in Burford but it was empty. So Mom and Squire Dan roamed aimlessly around trying to find the 1st Springvale Lancers who we were staying with... Alison is also a member of this crew because she was at Sir Sanford Flemming College for a bit.

After about 45 min of wondering we found Alison and she showed us that they where camped in the back corner.  It was getting dark fast so we went back grabbed our gear and set up our site.  Upon Learning that Dan is a Squire he kinda got picked on for the rest of the camp.  Sorry Hope you missed out, but we got pics :)  We hung out for a bit then got ready and left for the dance which was held down the road at the Fair Grounds. Well that was after stopping in the middle of town (wow they now have two stop lights!!!) and doing a Chinese Fire Drill and then carrying on!  We met up with old friends and chatted before the dance started.  Mike L, Laura,  Cory, Miller, Mike. H and Brian showed up later on. Most of the 21st young'ins were there too. Then the moment we were all waiting for.... Flyno and his Woman!!!

Wow we finally got to meet Catherine! Mel. B was there as well but with an other crew. Then the Costume Contest started,"like oh my gosh Kivell was dressed up in his Highland out fit with NO SKINNYS ON!" Anywho moving on... We danced most of the night away.  It was funny because Huck was dancing with this girl he liked, so we all stared at him and made him blush.  Then in an other song we all circled an started again then joined arms and danced along! Oh ya thanks for the "Special Sticker" Mike. As the dance wore on we ended with that old rendition of "I'm and asshole!" After that Huck and Brian departed and so did Mike. L. Laura, Cory and Miller hopped into the van plus some passengers needing a ride back to camp. Squire Dan and MOM hoped into lil put put with some cute Ranger's needing a ride back to camp as well:)

We got back to camp in the middle of a brawl at the front gate.. Some local ya-who's were causing a ruckus... We met up with Cory, Laura and Miller and show'em where we where camped.  We hung out for a bit and it then  started to get a little moist out... Laura and Miller left for home while the rest of us talked visited of went to the camp fire!  We woke up in the morning to the constant sound of rain on the tent and a few puddles on the
floor. Cory had brought a "Tickle Me Ernie Doll," so Alison and Mom chucked it at Squire Dan a few times... We eventually got up except for Squire Dan... Needles to say he got a rude awakening when we all ran in and dragged him out... To make matters funnier the tent collapsed because we didn't have all the pegs and guylines for it....

After we let him get out it was time for breakfast after bring wrestled to a tree and ducked taped
there and forced fed Porridge...(more like a thick pasty substance that had the weight of a brick!) With the constant rain a lot of groups had packed up and left early... Closing was delayed and then finally moved inside the picnic shelter where it was made final next year will be the last Hallowe'en Moot!  Our thanks go out to all the Burford Rover present and past for putting on a great moot!!!  Our hats off to you :)  We went back to our site, packed up and headed out.  Cory, Squire Dan and Mom piled into Lil put put. Alison got into Big Red and we headed for Harvey's in Brantford... Mmmm. Lunch... AHH But they stop serving Breakfast a 11:00am sharp!

While Squire Dan went into the washroom the rest of us slipped out and drove our vehicles around back where Dan couldn't see us.. He eventually found us 5mins L8R...  The rest of the trip home was uneventful...

We all had a great time and hopefully the pics of Dan will be posted shortly, he he he :)
