Spectator Service Project
20 December 1997, Mount Nemo Scout Camp, Burlington, Ontario
On Saturday, 20 December 1997, five of the Thunderbird Rovers helped to dismantle Spectator Lodge at Camp Nemo. We tried to salvage as much as we could, for either future building projects, crafts, or just for good firewood. What couldn't be saved, was either heaped into a dumpster, or burned in a bon fire.

The picture shows Flynno, Miller, Sally and Lumberman having a great time being destructive - but where's Cory?  Well, he was there, anyway. Considering us, great care had to be taken to avoid injury. Even still, Lumberman hit himself in the nose with a piece of wood, Sally got a hole in her pants, and it seemed as though everyone got at least one nail stuck in their shoe.

Spectator was built thirty-something years ago, with the help of the 81st Hamilton Scout Troop, and the generous support of the Hamilton Spectator. 'Spec' was the closest cabin to the entrance of Camp Nemo, and in recent memory, it was a forest green colour.

For the last few years, 'Spec' has been progressively deteriorating, so the decision was made to replace it with a new cabin. The new cabin is now complete, and is called 'Anniversary Cabin' commemorating Camp Nemo's 50th Anniversary last year. Inside Anniversary Cabin stands the Anniversary Wall, which bears the signature of every member of Hamilton Wentworth Council for the 1996-97 season.
