Like adventure?
Then Taupo is the place to go!
Taupo is a small town on the north shore of Lake Taupo, approximately 300km south of Auckland. The lake is what's left after a massive volcanic eruption that took place over 1000 years ago. The explosive force of the eruption dwarfed all other eruptions in history, even the mighty Krakatoa! Due to the filtering qualities of the volcanic rock that forms the bottom of the lake, the water is crystal clear and fresh.
There are lots of great activities to do when staying in Taupo, like kayaking, horse riding, bungy jumping, white water rafting, jet boating, thermal areas, hot pools, trout fishing, water skiing and lots more! When winter rolls around, it is only an hours drive to to Whakapapa - the magic mountain, New Zealands largest ski fields on the slopes of Mt. Ruapehu - an active volcano that last erupted in 1995!
The following are some of the activities I recommend!
