Awaiting Photo
Description |
A concrete platform/lookout on the edge of Clevedon's Marine Lake. There is room for only 2/3 anglers at any time, so take care when swinging leads about. You get about 2hrs fishing either side of high water. |
Fishing Methods and Baits |
A 75-100yd cast is needed to get out over the shoreline rocks and onto the sand and mixed ground. A clipped down pulley rig with a pair of 4/0's is a popular choice for winter cod fishing. A lead lift and rotten bottom can be also useful in keeping losses down. Best baits are rag/lug and crab for winter cod. Fish baits will also be taken, but mainly by whiting. Rag/lug and crab are the spring/summer baits for the other species. |
Best Tides |
Ideal tides for the Pumphouse are anything over 11.0m local. Any lower, and the water won't reach the base of the Marine Lake wall. |
Common Species |
Winter - cod, whiting, dabs, pout Summer - thornbacks, sole, eels, dogfish |
Directions |
From Junction 20 M5 drop down to roundabout. Take the first exit (left) and follow the 'ring road' all the way through the housing estates. After Old Church Road (L/H side) take the first turning left and park in overflow carpark for the Salthouse pub. A path on the top L/H corner leads through trees to the Pumphouse platform. |
