Royal Pier |
Awaiting Photo
Description |
A disused solid stone pier/jetty at the entrance to Portishead docks. It can be fished from both sides, but mainly from the left hand side and the end. All but the very end dries out at low tide. |
Fishing Methods and Baits |
Standard beachcasting rigs - bomber, flapper etc are the best options. A good cast from the end will put you in deep water near the main shipping channel into Royal Portbury dock. As with most Bristol Channel marks, the ebb is much fiercer than the flood Best baits are lug and rag, plus fish baits if the whiting are about |
Best Tides |
Ideal tides are between 9.0 and 11.0m (local). You should get 3hrs fishing either side of high water. |
Common Species |
Winter - cod, whiting Summer - flounder, eels, sole, bass |
Directions |
