FIRST GENERATION
1. Charles RABB was born in 1781. He died in 1866.

and Rabb Families, Second Edition by Rev. Horace Rabb 1936 states
that Charles is said to have had a brother, William, who moved
west.
He was married to Mary V. HARRISON. Mary V. HARRISON was born in
1794. She died in 1870. Charles RABB and Mary V. HARRISON had
the following children:

SECOND GENERATION
2. Thomas RABB was born in 1819. He was married to Caroline

moved west. She was married to John ASHFORD.
4. Johnathan Harrison RABB was born on 24 Jan 1820 in Fairfield
County, South Carolina. He died on 24 Jan 1884. He was buried on
26 Jan 1884 in Little River Baptist Church Cemetery,
Jenkinsville, Fairfield County, SC.He was married to Nancy
Savilla CHAPPELL on 12 Nov 1839. Nancy Savilla CHAPPELL was born
on 15 Aug 1824. She died on 18 Jan 1899 or January 15, 1900,

6. Mary Virginia RABB was born on 5 May 1845. BIOGRAPHICAL

Families, Second Edition by Rev. Horace Rabb 1936 (sources for
this publication not indicated) states that she had seven
children. She was married to Sylas RUFF.
7. Dr. Charles (Charlie) RABB was born on 8 Nov 1847 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. He died on 18 Mar 1894 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. He was buried on 20 Mar 1894
in Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery, Fairfield Co. near Shelton,
SC. Charlie Rabb was a doctor. He was married to Sara
Elizabeth MAYO (daughter of Philip MAYO and Sara JOHNSON). Sara
Elizabeth MAYO was born on 24 Aug 1851. She died on 19 Dec 1907.

18. Sara Elizabeth (Sadie) RABB was born on 11 Aug 1888 in
Fairfield, S.C.. She died on 21 Nov 1976 in Newberry, S.C.
Sadie grew up in Fairfield County. After her mother dies, she
lived with her sister Doug. After her marriage, she lived in
Pomaria, Strother, Newberry, and then Pomaria again. All of her
children were born in Strother, Fairfield Co. in a house close
to Broad River. Around 1937 or 38, the family moved to Hunt
Street in Newberry, SC for better schools for the children.
Later, they moved back to Pomaria in a house which stood next to
the log house where they first lived The house on Fairfield Co.
burned some time after the family moved to Newberry. Sadie
worked as the post mistress in Strother and as a storekeeper.
She was known to her grandchildren as "Big Mama". She loved
flowers and crocheting. She is buried at Mt. Pleasant Methodist
Church Cemetery, Pomaria, SC. She was married to John Samuel
Jefferson, Jr. (Jeff) SUBER (son of John Samuel Jefferson, Sr.
SUBER and Ella Martha (Allie) ROBINSON) on 5 Jan 1908. John
Samuel Jefferson, Jr. (Jeff) SUBER was born on 24 Jan 1882 in
Maybinton, S.C.. He died on 13 Jun 1957 in Newberry County,
S.C.. Jeff grew up in Pomaria, SC. After they married, he and
Sadie first lived in a log house in Pomaria. He worked as a
storekeeper in Strother and a mail carrier. His children
remember him as a kind and generous man who, throughout his life,
offered his home and help to relatives and others. He was
known to his grandchildren as "Big Daddy". He had diabetes and
died as the result of a heart attack. He is buried at Mt.
Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery, Pomaria, SC.
Sara Elizabeth RABB and John Samuel Jefferson, Jr. SUBER had the

19. Emmie Cason (Emmie) RABB was born on 21 Jan 1890. She died
on 22 Feb 1969. She was married to Sidney S. Blackburn. Emmie

41. Henry Jefferson (Henry) SUBER was born on 22 Nov 1908 in
Strother, Fairfield County, South Carolina. He died on 6 Dec
1952 in Newberry County, South Carolina. He was buried in Mt.
Pleasant Methodist Church Newberry Co. SC. Henry grew up in
Strother and Newberry, SC. He graduated from Newberry High
School. He worked as a store owner/operator on SC Highway 34.
His death was due to drowning as a result of a boating accident.
He, his brother-in-law James Fowler and another friend were
duck hunting on Broad River. The boat overturned and Henry and
James drowned, the friend survived. He was married to Lula Bess
(Bess) GILLIAM on 30 Dec 1932. Henry Jefferson (Henry) SUBER
and Lula Bess (Bess) GILLIAM had the following children:

42. James Albert (Bubba) SUBER was born on 17 Jun 1911 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. He died on 7 Jan 1990 in
Darlington, S. C.. James grew up in Strother and Newberry.
He graduated from Newberry High School. He lived in Spartanburg,
SC for a number of years and owned an automotive repair shop.
He was married to Eulalia CAMERON on 6 Mar 1932. Eulalia CAMERON
was born on 8 Nov 1914. She died in Nov 1979 in Spartanburg,
S.C. James Albert (Bubba) SUBER and Eulalia CAMERON had the
following children:

43. Sara Elizabeth (Sara) SUBER was born on 3 Apr 1913 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. She died on 15 Feb 1961 in
Atlanta, Georgia. Sarah was born in Fairfield Co., SC and grew
up in Strother, Newberry and Pomaria. She graduated from
Newberry High School. After her marriage, she moved to Atlanta,
Georgia. Her death was possibly due to a liver disease. She was
married to George Dennis (George) WAY from Newberry, SC on 6 Sep
1936. He was an artist. He died as a result of a house fire.
44. Dorothy Helen (Dolly) SUBER was born on 1 Aug 1915 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. Dorothy was born in Fairfield
Co., SC and grew up in Strother and Newberry. She graduated
from Newberry High School. After her marriage she lived in
Newberry and Pomaria. She also lived in Pueblo, Colorado for a
year while Virgil was in service, in Jacksonville, Fla. for many
years, and in Lake City, Fla. She worked as manager of a
clothing store, window dresser, and a doughnut maker. She is
known to her grandchildren as Memommy. She was married to Virgil
Osborne (Virgil) GOREE (son of Osborne Sidney GOREE and Nora
CONNELLEY) on 20 Feb 1935. Virgil Osborne (Virgil) GOREE was
born on 23 Jan 1912 in Newberry Co., SC. He died on 6 Aug 1997
in Lake City, Florida. Virgil grew up in Newberry. He served in
the US Army and in World War II. He worked as a doughnut maker
while living in Pomaria, SC and as a railway mail clerk for many
years. He was known to his grandchildren as GDaddy. Dorothy
Helen (Dolly) SUBER and Virgil Osborne (Virgil) GOREE had the
following children:

45. Martha Allie (Allie) SUBER was born on 26 Sep 1917 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. She died on 7 Nov 1997 in
Cumming, Georgia. Allie grew up in Strother and Newberry,
South Carolina. She graduated from Newberry High School in
1935. She graduated from nursing school at Columbia Hospital
in Columbia, SC. in 1937. There she met Harry when he was
hospitalized for an appendectomy. She apparently almost choked
him when he reached out to get her attention and touched her
in a "ticklish" spot. She startled and accidentally dumped a
can of powder she was holding onto his face. He survived,
however, and they married. She continued to work in Columbia at
the Providence Hospital and moved with the family to Atlanta in
1956. There she worked as a private duty nurse at Piedmont
Hospital. She had diabetes. She moved to Cumming, Forsyth Co.,
Georgia in 1982. She was known to her grandchildren as Granmama,
Nanny, Grandmother. She loved flowers, crocheting, and sewing.
She died of congestive heart failure. She was cremated. She
was married to Harry Henderson (Harry) CLELAND (son of William
Pinckney (WP, Will) CLELAND and Olive Christine (Olive) BOLT) on
25 Aug 1940. Harry Henderson (Harry) CLELAND was born on 7 Jun
1914 in Anderson, South Carolina. He died on 18 Oct 1979 in
Atlanta, Georgia. Harry was born in Oconee Co, Westminster, SC.
He graduated from Westminster High School in 1932. He attended
Appalachian State College for one year. He worked as a sales
representative for a number of paint companies in Columbia. He
founded and owned Cleland Construction Company in Columbia, SC.
Later he worked for Harbor Plywood Company and moved the family
to Atlanta, Georgia in 1956 when transferred by the company.
In Atlanta Harry worked in carpentry and also held sales
positions, the last being with Shedd Brown, Inc. He met Allie
when he was in the Columbia Hospital for an appendectomy. He
was known to his grandchildren as Grandaddy. He was active in
Beecher Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta for many years. His
death was due to cancer. He was cremated and his ashes were
spread in the rose garden at Mt. Harmony Cemetery and Crematory
on the Bankhead Highway in Atlanta, Georgia. Martha Allie
(Allie) SUBER and Harry Henderson (Harry) CLELAND had the
following children:

County, South Carolina. Jack grew up in Strother, Newberry,
and Pomaria. He graduated from Salem Crossroads High School in
Fairfield Co. He also lived in Columbia, SC. He was in the US
Army. He was married to Catherine E. (Catherine) MERRITT on 28
Jan 1952.
48. Minnie Rabb (Minnie) SUBER was born on 1 Sep 1922 in
Fairfield County, South Carolina. She died on 13 Nov 1987 in
Newberry, South Carolina. She was buried in Mt. Pleasant
Methodist Church Cemetery, Pomaria, SC. Minnie grew up in
Strother, Newberry and Pomaria. She graduated from Salem
Crossroads High School in Fairfield Co., SC. She worked as a
mail carrier and personal care worker. She had diabetes.
She was married to Ray Eugene RUFF on 22 Sep 1942. She was
divorced from Ray Eugene RUFF. Minnie Rabb (Minnie) SUBER and
Ray Eugene RUFF had the following children:
