"Shar" gave birth to a beautiful filly on Thursday June 18, 1998
while I was at work! I know I have told many of you that I would
post some pictures of the birth, but under the circumstances, I don't have any!!! I will be posting some pictures of a foaling by a different mare instead. I still have not picked out a name to register the filly as, but I have picked a barn name for her, which I think is VERY fitting! Shar is an apple fiend! I have this huge apple tree behind the barn which Shar always wants people to shake the branches so she can chow down on the apples that fall to the ground. Well, her love for that tree even made it a "safe place" for her to give birth!!! Yeah, that's right! She gave birth UNDER the apple tree. Well, for this reason, I have decided to call the new addition to my farm "Blossom" (short for "Apple Blossom"). Blossom is a very fiesty little squirt, but she was born healthy and happy! Imagine my surprise when I came home to a new foal... I had performed a milk calcium test the night before Shar had Blossom but I didn't get any reading of calcium levels in her milk. I was, therefore, under the impression that she still had at least a few days! Boy, was I wrong!? I have been imprint training the Blossom (of course) and will try to have someone take some pictures of the process so I can share those also...
