The narn were a very primitive species for a long time. Although they had mastered space flight, their technology was not up to speed with the rest of the space bound races. The Centuri saw this and took advantage of it, enslaving the narn and conquering their world. The centuri actually didn't conquer the Narn but a shadow vessel actually came before them and knocked out thier defenses redering the narn helpless to attack.
