Maranhense Union of aeromodelling

        Established in november 26, 1977 by a group of pioneer aeromodellists commanded by Gualhardo, our association (União Maranhense de Aeromodelismo (Maranhense Union of aeromodelling) - UMA) owns a paved 130x10m runway, a 40m2 hangar and about 25 affiliates. At our island the most difficult aspect for the beginner hobbist is undoubtedly the strong and constant wind, which affects even the most experienced ones as their  landings resemble those of novices.

    Our new headquarters are located in a privileged place (few
people and many trees) situated within the Parque Independencia (EXPOEMA).
Our previous runway was located in an area yielded by the State University
and as the years passed the proximity with houses, automobiles, curious
people and even a gas station turned it dangerous.
