Archie Lalor was born August 6, 1917 and died April 10, 1993. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1935, and was then employed with his father in Lalor Construction. He joined the Eagle Grove Fire Department in 1939. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 and was in the European Theater in World War II from 1942 to 1945. He married Dorothy Dibble in 1946. Archie was elected chief of the fire department in 1948 and continued in that role until his death. He was one of the first members of the Wright County Firemen's Association, and a member of the Fire Chief's Association. He was a dedicated fireman, and a leader and teacher for his firemen. He took great pride in serving his community through the fire department. As a final tribute to Archie, fellow firemen lined the walk from the church to the fire truck which would bear his body to Rose hill Cemetery. It was fitting that his final trip should be in a 1937 LaFrance fire truck.
