His life was filled with pain, despite the joy. His life had been filled with hardships and trouble. Though he did find true joy, In family and friends. But he also knew a dangerous, often deadly, escape from his pain... Alcohol. He would learn the lesson too late. On that brisk October morning, I was told My Big Brother had left us. That God had called him home. My last memory of him is hard to bare. He was angry with me for going to the center of town with my little brother alone the day before. He knew the dangers we didn't. After the fighting and yelling, he walked away. That night he drowned his sorrows and got into his van. He never made it home. My last moments with him were filled with anger and fear. I never got to apologize and tell him how much I loved him. But I know he loves me and is watching over me. |

He was more than a statistic. Husband, Father, Son and My Brother. I adored him even though I knew he wasn't perfect but that didn't matter. He loved and protected me to the day he died. His children would have to grow up without their father. His young daughter will never get to see the fatherly pride in his eyes. His son, born months after, will never know him, except through the eyes of others. |

We found comfort from a poem in a frame we had been given. It breaks my heart to lose you but you did not go alone. For part of me went with you, the day God called you home. A million times I cried. If love could have saved you, you never would have died. I think of you in silence and often speak your name But all thats left to answer is your picture in a frame. |
