DIFFERENT

A. Kite (Sept. 2002)

I thought it'd be different. You know, sex with a guy. I thought it'd be all Tim Allen-like testosterone grunting. Getting off and rolling over to snooze out. Hell, I don't know what I thought it'd be like, really. Just not like it is with Fraser - all warming and loving, with kisses. Lots of kisses. Are guys supposed to kiss? I don't have a clue.

Not that we can't work up a sweat. 'Cause, let me tell you, we can. Even after the roughest workout, the ones where we come our brains out, afterwards we cuddle. Then just before I drop off to sleep, I'll whisper it in his ear. Like I'm afraid somebody will hear, "I love you, Ben."

"And I you, Ray," he says, only he says it out loud, like he wants the world to hear it. I guess that's mushy to some people - the way I feel when he says that. The way it feels when his lips ghost over my eye lids, and the squeeze he gives me. Not even with Stella did I go to sleep smiling and wake up the same way. It's different.
